SUMMARY:WEBINAR: Rural Vs. Urban Youth: Are They Really That Different?
DESCRIPTION:When educating youth\, one must be aware of their uniqueness as it relates to a variety of demographics\, including the community where they are living. If youth cannot take the information you are providing and use it in their daily lives and in their community\, then all of the education is for nothing. \nThe evidence-based Love Notes Sexual Risk Avoidance Education(SRAE) curriculum is being used successfully in two SRAE programs that serve high-risk youth in very different communities – one in rural West Virginia and the other in New York City. In this webinar\, we will discuss how\, while these youth may seem like they are worlds apart\, we have found that their response to this curriculum and relationship experiences are not all that different. \nPresenters:  \n\nTorri Childs\, MA\, Field Research Associate who has worked with AMTC and Associates since 2008.\nCrystal Agnew\, Deputy Director of Trinity Church\, Peacmeakers Family Center\nMelissa Ballard\, Program Director for the Mission West Virginia SRAE Program\n\n \nResources: March 2019 Webinar PPT

SUMMARY:WEBINAR: What Do We Really Know About "The Cycle of Violence?"
DESCRIPTION:It is commonly said that youth who are exposed to interparental domestic violence are at an increased risk of experiencing dating violence in their romantic relationships. This phenomenon is often referred to as “the cycle of violence” or intergenerational transmission of violence. There is ample evidence supporting “the cycle of violence” hypothesis\, yet\, most youth exposed to interparental domestic violence do not go on to experience violence in their romantic relationships. How can we explain these seemingly opposing findings? \nSpecifically\, webinar attendees will learn: \n\nWhat factors can increase or decrease adolescents’ risk of dating violence.\nHow individuals can help prevent or break the cycle of violence.\nHow to help promote posttraumatic growth and resilience in adolescents’ romantic relationships.\n\nPresenter: Megan Haselschwerdt\, Ph.D.\, Assistant Professor in Child and Family Studies\, The University of Tennessee\, Knoxville. \n \nResources: January 2019 Webinar PPT

SUMMARY:WEBINAR: Essential Lessons Learned in Dating: Teaching the Stages of Relationships
